Liverpool fans have celebrated what they called the ‘best moment of the match’ after noticing Harvey Elliott’s savage gesture toward Richarlison.
Liverpool secured the Premier League title with a commanding 5-1 victory over Tottenham on Sunday.
This triumph marks the club’s 20th league championship and their second since the inception of the Premier League.
The city will be awash in red as Liverpool celebrate their latest success.
Meanwhile, city rivals Everton have endured a 30-year drought without winning a major trophy.
Elliott, who came on as a second-half substitute, made that point clear during an altercation with ex-Everton star Richarlison.
Richarlison, whose Everton ties were not forgotten, was booed off the pitch when substituted.
Later, during stoppage time, Elliott and Richarlison clashed, with Elliott shoving the Brazilian and flashing a ’30’ hand gesture, referencing Everton’s long-running trophy drought.
Liverpool supporters online loved Elliott’s cheeky jab at Richarlison and Everton.
One fan wrote on X: “Harvey Elliott giving Richarlison the ’30 years’ sign might be the highlight of the match.”
Another posted: “Best moment today was Harvey Elliott mocking Richarlison.”
A third said: “Harvey Elliott becomes a legend with the ’30 years’ taunt to Richarlison.”
Another fan added: “Harvey Elliott doing God’s work with that jab at Richarlison.”
This title is Elliott’s first Premier League win, as he did not qualify for a medal during Liverpool’s 2020 title run.
It’s also the first Premier League crown for manager Arne Slot, who took charge last summer.
Reflecting on the achievement, Slot said: “It’s hard to put into words. You could feel how much it meant to the fans.
“We always fight back, we always find a way to win. Losing today wasn’t an option.
“Our focus was entirely on winning this match. Even being top of the table all season, you know how tough the Premier League is. The belief was always there.”
Liverpool will receive a guard of honour from Chelsea when they return to league action next Sunday.
