STEVEN GERRARD NAMES TWO KEY SIGNINGS THAT COULD TURN TOTTENHAM INTO PREMIER LEAGUE TITLE CONTENDERS

Tottenham Hotspur’s recent resurgence has caught attention, with former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard believing the North London side could be much closer to challenging for major trophies than many people think.

Roberto De Zerbi’s men have enjoyed consecutive victories against Coventry City and Chelsea, lifting the mood around the club after a difficult spell. Those results have moved Spurs to within just three points of the Premier League’s top six, giving them renewed hope of securing European football.

Gerrard Identifies Two Positions Tottenham Must Strengthen

Despite recognising the quality already available in Tottenham’s squad, Gerrard believes two important additions could take the team to another level.

Speaking on The Overlap Daily, the former England international identified a world-class striker and an elite goalkeeper as the two missing pieces.

He questioned Richarlison’s goalscoring contribution and suggested Tottenham need a reliable centre-forward capable of delivering consistently. Although Dominic Solanke and Mathys Tel offer attacking options, Gerrard believes Spurs would become far more dangerous with a striker of Harry Kane’s quality.

He also insisted that signing a top-class goalkeeper alongside a proven goalscorer could transform Tottenham into genuine Premier League title contenders.

Gerrard was also impressed by several Tottenham players during their victory over Chelsea, praising Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes and James Maddison.

He particularly highlighted Maddison’s influence, describing the midfielder as someone who brings personality, confidence and character to the team. Gerrard also expressed hope that his injury concern would not keep him out for long.

On the goalkeeping situation, he acknowledged Antonin Kinsky’s potential but suggested the youngster still has development to do before reaching the elite level.

Tottenham Already Looking at Potential New Signings

Interestingly, reports suggest Tottenham could already be working towards addressing the two areas highlighted by Gerrard.

A new striker is reportedly high on the club’s recruitment agenda ahead of the January transfer window, with potential targets being considered to improve their attacking strength.

Spurs have also been linked with Brazilian goalkeeper prospect Otavio, although it remains uncertain whether the club see him as a future first-choice goalkeeper or a developing backup option.

Adding quality in both positions could be crucial to De Zerbi’s long-term plans as he looks to build a squad capable of challenging for major honours.

Tottenham Players Determined to Fight for Silverware

Tottenham’s ambitions appear to go beyond simply improving their league position.

Following their impressive 2-0 win over Chelsea, Mateus Fernandes made it clear that the players want to develop a winning mentality and compete for trophies.

The midfielder stressed the importance of fighting for every ball and giving everything on the pitch, particularly after Tottenham’s previous difficulties at Stamford Bridge.

With confidence returning following two consecutive victories, Spurs will be hoping to maintain their momentum.

However, whether the club’s hierarchy will invest in the quality required to fulfil those ambitions could become one of the biggest talking points ahead of the January transfer window.
