Dejan Kulusevski Reveals the Heartbreaking Words He Told His Family Before His Tottenham Comeback 😢

DEJAN KULUSEVSKI REVEALS THE HEARTBREAKING WORDS HE TOLD HIS FAMILY BEFORE HIS TOTTENHAM COMEBACK

Tottenham star Dejan Kulusevski has opened up about the emotional struggles he faced during his long battle to recover from a devastating knee injury.

The Swedish international finally returned to action on Monday night against Coventry City after spending 526 days on the sidelines, having suffered the injury against Crystal Palace in May 2025.

The road to recovery was far from easy. Repeated setbacks left the 26-year-old wondering whether he would ever play football again, forcing him to prepare his closest family for the possibility that his comeback might never happen.

“I had to tell my closest ones that it might not work out,” Kulusevski admitted, revealing that he shared those difficult words just months before his return.

Despite the uncertainty, he insisted that deep down, he never stopped believing he would make it back. He said he continued working tirelessly for around 10 hours a day, even when nobody was watching and others might have lost hope.

His emotional return came in the 87th minute against Coventry, when manager Roberto De Zerbi brought him onto the pitch. The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium erupted as supporters welcomed the long-awaited return of their beloved attacker.

Kulusevski expressed his gratitude for the incredible reception, admitting that the fans’ support meant everything to him. He also revealed that he only began feeling fully ready to return about five days before the match, as his condition continued to improve.

The former Juventus star credited God, his family and his unwavering faith for helping him survive what he described as the most difficult period of his life.

He believes the experience has changed him for the better, making him a wiser person while strengthening his love for football.

Now back on the pitch, Kulusevski is eager to continue his journey under De Zerbi, whom he described as an amazing manager.

After nearly 18 months of pain, frustration and uncertainty, the Swedish star finally has his chance to begin a new chapter at Tottenham. ❤️🤍
