Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott, valued at £100 million, as concerns grow over Dominik Szoboszlai’s injury.

Liverpool are reportedly considering a move for Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott as they look to strengthen their midfield options ahead of the January transfer window.

According to Fabrizio Romano via TEAMtalk, the Reds are among several clubs interested in the 23-year-old, with Chelsea also keen on securing his signature. Liverpool have struggled with midfield depth since allowing Curtis Jones to join Inter Milan during the summer without bringing in a direct replacement. As a result, the club have depended heavily on Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai, leaving limited alternatives when injuries or suspensions affect the squad.

Szoboszlai’s latest hamstring setback has further exposed the problem. The Hungarian international returned to Liverpool’s starting lineup against Brentford but suffered a recurrence of the injury, potentially leaving the Reds without one of their most influential players for another period.

Scott could offer valuable competition and additional options in midfield. The Bournemouth star has impressed with his technical ability, tireless work rate and versatility, qualities that could make him an attractive addition as Liverpool aim to compete across multiple competitions.

However, Liverpool could face stiff competition from Chelsea, who have previously attempted to sign the midfielder. According to transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, Bournemouth are now prepared to consider offers for Scott in January after failing to reach an agreement over a new contract.

Despite that development, Bournemouth are reportedly demanding at least £100 million for the England international. Although the Cherries are not actively looking to sell him, they could consider a departure if their valuation is met and the player expresses a desire to leave.

Liverpool must now weigh up whether such a significant investment would be worthwhile, particularly with other areas of the squad potentially requiring attention in the transfer market.

With Szoboszlai facing another spell on the sidelines and concerns growing over Liverpool’s midfield depth, Scott could emerge as a serious January target. Nevertheless, Bournemouth’s hefty asking price and Chelsea’s interest could make negotiations difficult for the Reds.
