Liverpool urged to immediately offload one of the club’s worst signings in Premier League history, with two potential destinations emerging.

Liverpool Urged to Sell Alexander Isak as Injury Concerns Grow Under Andoni Iraola
Liverpool have been advised to consider selling Alexander Isak, with concerns mounting over his recurring injury problems and whether he can cope with Andoni Iraola’s demanding style of football.
The Swedish striker joined Liverpool from Newcastle United last summer in a British-record £125 million transfer, but his time at Anfield has been disrupted by persistent fitness issues. Since arriving, Isak has featured just 29 times and missed 36 games through injuries, with five separate spells on the sidelines.
One of his biggest setbacks came just months after his arrival when he suffered a broken leg, requiring surgery in December. The injury kept him out of action until April. Before that, he had already missed four matches, while subsequent problems involving his adductors and muscles further disrupted his campaign.
His injury troubles continued during the latest international break, forcing him to withdraw from Sweden’s squad. The 27-year-old missed three international fixtures and has also been unavailable for Liverpool’s subsequent matches, raising fresh questions about his long-term fitness.
Speaking on talkSPORT’s Fiery Fridays, Angelina Kelly argued that Isak needs to reconsider his career direction because he is missing too much football.
Kelly acknowledged that his broken leg was an unfortunate setback but expressed concern that Liverpool’s current tactical approach could expose him to further injuries.
According to her, Isak initially joined Liverpool when Arne Slot was in charge, under a manager whose footballing approach was considerably slower than Iraola’s high-intensity system.
With Iraola demanding relentless running and pressing from his players, Kelly fears the striker could struggle to remain fit if he continues playing under those conditions.
She suggested that Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain could be suitable destinations if Liverpool decide to part ways with the forward. Both clubs could potentially offer him more opportunities for rotation and recovery time.
Kelly also argued that selling Isak for a fee close to what Liverpool originally paid would allow the club to reinvest the money in other areas of the squad.
She stressed that the situation might simply be a case of the player and manager being incompatible at the wrong time.
talkSPORT presenter Adrian Durham agreed with Kelly’s assessment, although he expressed sympathy for Isak over how his record-breaking move has unfolded.
Durham described the Swedish international as a potential contender for one of the worst signings in Premier League history, while clarifying that his criticism was not necessarily a reflection of Isak’s footballing ability.
Instead, he pointed to the circumstances surrounding the transfer, Liverpool’s situation and the striker’s persistent fitness problems as reasons why the move has failed to deliver the expected results.
Durham also called for a major overhaul at Anfield, suggesting that Liverpool should consider selling Florian Wirtz, who arrived for a reported £116 million, and using the proceeds to rebuild their midfield.
He believes the club must accept that some expensive transfers have not worked out and move forward with a fresh recruitment strategy.
With Isak’s injury record becoming an increasing concern, Liverpool now face a difficult question: should they continue backing their £125 million striker or cut their losses and reinvest in the squad?
