TOUCHING MOMENT πŸ–€πŸ™ Why Arsenal Paid Tribute With Black Armbands Against Lille

WHY ARSENAL WORE BLACK ARMBANDS AGAINST LILLE β€” TOUCHING TRIBUTE TO CLUB LEGEND πŸ–€πŸ™

Arsenal players wore black armbands during their Champions League clash against Lille to honour the legendary Ken Friar, who sadly passed away at the age of 92.

The Gunners paid tribute to the long-serving club figure, whose remarkable contribution to Arsenal spanned an incredible 70 years.

Friar began working at Arsenal in 1950, initially helping at the club’s ticket office before becoming club secretary in 1973. He later served as managing director and played a major role in Arsenal’s historic move from Highbury to the Emirates Stadium in 2006.

In recognition of his outstanding service, he was awarded an OBE in 2000 and became Arsenal’s life president in 2020.

Affectionately known as β€œMr Friar,” he remained deeply connected to the club even after stepping away from his executive duties.

Arsenal expressed their sadness in an official statement, describing his influence on the club as extraordinary and his legacy as one that would be difficult to match.

The club also announced plans for further tributes during their match against Everton on October 24.

πŸ–€ Rest in peace, Ken Friar. A true Arsenal legend whose legacy will never be forgotten. πŸ™
