Man Utd Fans Slam ‘Shocking’ Player After Disappointing Draw Against Tottenham
Manchester United supporters have taken to social media to criticise Youri Tielemans following his disappointing display in the 1-1 draw against Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford.
United entered Saturday’s Premier League clash desperate for a win after going three games without victory, while Tottenham were also searching for their first league win of the 2026/27 campaign.
Spurs looked the stronger team during the opening half, with Dominic Solanke and Mohammed Kudus both missing promising opportunities to put the visitors ahead.
After being booed off at half-time, United improved after the break and took the lead in the 71st minute through Bryan Mbeumo, who finished brilliantly to put the hosts in front.
However, the Red Devils were unable to secure all three points. In the 91st minute, Sandro Tonali delivered a cross that Solanke flicked into the net to rescue a dramatic late equaliser for Tottenham.
Tielemans Struggles to Impress
Following the match, football journalist Henry Winter and YouTuber Mark Goldbridge were among those who expressed concerns about Tielemans’ performance.
The Belgian midfielder, who arrived at Manchester United from Aston Villa during the summer transfer window, struggled to influence the game before being substituted for Carlos Baleba in the 59th minute.
Winter suggested that Tielemans needed greater physicality and mobility around him, pointing out how easily Tottenham were able to play through United’s midfield.
Goldbridge also questioned whether the midfielder was suited to United’s current system, arguing that the pace of the match and his defensive responsibilities appeared to cause him problems.
Man Utd Supporters React Angrily
Many United fans shared similar frustrations online, with several questioning Tielemans’ performance and whether he should continue starting important matches.
One supporter described his display as shocking, while another insisted that his performances needed to be assessed more honestly.
Other fans argued that the midfielder looked off the pace, struggled to cope with Tottenham’s intensity and should have been substituted earlier.
Some even suggested that he should be reserved for cup competitions rather than starting Premier League fixtures.
What Comes Next for Man Utd?
United will now turn their attention to Tuesday night’s UEFA Champions League fixture against Atletico Madrid, where they will be hoping to respond positively after dropping more points in the Premier League.
With criticism mounting following the Tottenham draw, Tielemans will be under pressure to deliver a stronger performance if he gets another opportunity.
