Jeremy Jacquet starts France vs Belgium on the bench following a physical issue.

Liverpool centre-back Jérémy Jacquet will not start France’s UEFA Nations League clash with Belgium after suffering a physical issue, according to L’Équipe.

The 21-year-old remains with the France squad but is expected to begin Monday’s match on the bench as a precaution. There has been no indication that he has been ruled out completely, with his condition set to be monitored.

Jacquet had started France’s previous Nations League fixtures against Belgium and Italy, continuing to earn the trust of the national team despite his young age.

However, Zinedine Zidane has opted to make a change in defence for this encounter, selecting Manchester United’s Leny Yoro alongside Chelsea’s Maxence Lacroix. The match will also mark Yoro’s France debut.

Jacquet made his senior France debut against Belgium in September and played his part in a 1-0 victory. Liverpool supporters will now be hoping the physical issue is only minor and that the young defender will be back to full fitness soon.
