Liverpool Re-Sign Midfielder Four Years After His Departure as He Reunites With His Brother
Liverpool have brought Hungarian midfielder Patrik Farkas back to Anfield, four years after he initially left the club for Blackburn Rovers.
The 19-year-old has now been registered with Liverpool’s U21 side following an impressive trial with the academy during the summer.
Farkas was included on the bench for Liverpool U21’s 1-0 defeat to West Ham on Monday, marking his first competitive involvement since returning to the club earlier this month.
The midfielder originally joined Liverpool from Kecskeméti TE in 2021 but spent only one season with the club before moving to Blackburn. During his time away, he also enjoyed loan spells with City of Liverpool FC and Prescot Cables.
After his Blackburn contract expired at the end of last season, Liverpool invited him back for a trial. With his younger brother Erik already playing for the club’s U18s, Farkas accepted the opportunity to return to Merseyside.
The versatile midfielder is expected to receive opportunities with the U21s under manager Rob Page this season. While a first-team breakthrough may still be some distance away, his versatility and work rate could make him an important player for the academy.
Farkas described his return to Liverpool as a “dream come true” and expressed his excitement about working hard and proving what he can do.
He will now have the chance to play alongside his younger brother again, something the pair have done since childhood, with both determined to push each other and continue improving.
